For Sale: '61 LHD Splitscreen 15-Window Microbus Deluxe 

Offered for sale is a beautifully preserved August 1961-built model year 1962 left-hand drive 15-window Deluxe Microbus, originally delivered to Washington DC and later residing in Arizona before arriving in the UK. This is a highly original and unspoiled example, retaining 100% of its factory paint in the desirable Beige Grey over Sealing Wax Red colour combination.
 

The bus presents as a remarkably honest vehicle, having never required any panel replacement or welding—testament to its life in dry climates. It features six pop-out windows and Creative Engineering safari windows, perfect for summer cruising. The original “ambulance step” to the cargo area (M 530) remains in place, along with the correct deluxe trim and details throughout.
 

Mechanically, the bus has been thoughtfully upgraded for usability while retaining the option to return to stock if desired. It is currently running an IRS setup using a box wagon configuration (with no frame horns removed), paired with a 1303S gearbox and a strong 1955cc engine built by Daz Chandler, fitted with twin 40 Dellorto carburettors. Additional upgrades include rebuilt steering box, front disc brakes with Wilwood calipers and servo-assisted dual-circuit master cylinder.
 

For comfort and practicality, the bus is equipped with an Eberspacher night heater, neatly installed with controls behind the bulkhead and a discreet diesel tank in the engine bay.
 

The interior is currently fitted with a period Devon style camping interior, offering added practicality and charm. The bus also comes with its original rear and middle seats, along with the original cargo mat in excellent condition, and all associated clamps, armrests, and trim pieces.
