For sale… ‘71 Early Bay Window Tin-Top Deluxe (Australian Model)

This 1971 Early Bay Tin-Top Deluxe is an Australian-market model, originally finished in white before undergoing a restoration by GS Autotech here in North Devon back in 2012. The work included a replacement roof and a full repaint in two-tone Cream White (L90H) over Blass Green (RAL 6021). A full photo record of the restoration is included, showing the level of care and detail that went into the project.
 

The current owner purchased the van in 2017 and has since used it for weddings and proms, where its classic two-tone finish and deluxe trim made it a natural fit. These Aussie-deluxe models are particularly appealing, featuring microbus-style interior trim and details, now complemented by a full-width rock and roll bed for practical usability.
 

It retains standout features including headlight blinkers, deluxe trim runners integrated into the bumpers, a rare bench-seat configuration in the cab area, and rear dust filters. Inside, the seats and door cards were refurbished and re-padded in 2017 to maintain a fresh, tidy appearance. A Panasonic stereo provides period-friendly audio without distracting from the original feel.
 

Powered by a 1600 engine and presented in right-hand drive, this is a characterful Bay that remains very usable as-is. There are areas of bodywork that need attention — particularly beneath the front headlights — but the fundamentals are all there. For someone wanting a rolling restoration with strong return-on-investment potential, this is a superb starting point.
