'Meticulously restored by VW and paint shop experts ‘A-List’ in Norwich'
This beautiful Bay Window Camper, was first registered in the UK June 1971, technically, two previous owners, but the van passed through the family following the sad passing of the original owner. A real “barn find” purchased by the current owner in July 2018 with an original mileage of 55,500 miles.
Having owned and overseen the restoration of several VW Campervans, the current owners have spared no expense, combining all the “best” of the VW Type 2 heritage to deliver this superb van.
Right-hand drive, UK Early Bay with new Late Bay T2 Westfalia Style elevating roof supplied by ‘Space Roofs’, which provides improved standing space in the kitchen/dining area. The roof has been fitted with external gas-suspension struts and scissor hinges for easier / single-handed operation than the original design.
The pop-top roof has a double bed with a mattress and side windows with a flyscreen in the canopy, plus a separate roof luggage rack at the front of the van.
The quality wooden interior units, supplied by ‘ReproWesty’ in Holland, is based on the Helsinki configuration made popular by Westfalia in the 1970s.
The very versatile configuration provides a sink and fridge unit; a full height wardrobe unit; drop down gas hob; removable dining table; a rear roof storage box and a spacious full-width rock and roll bed.
Also installed is a built-in Dometic CRX-50 Fridge with freezer compartment connected to the mains hook-up and the leisure battery.
The original driver, passenger seats and rear seats, along with new door cards, have been expertly and sympathetically re-trimmed by Moore’s Vehicle Trimmers in Aylsham.
The original, uncut, dashboard has been colour-coded and front door window winders and heating levers have all been upgraded. Steering is via a light oak Woodrim Steering Wheel with polished stainless spokes, boss, and horn push which brings a quality feel to the instrumentation.
The floor has a marine-ply base with insulation finished with a Westfalia-style vinyl flooring.
Re-chromed door and engine lid handles with a single key.
There is a 240V hook-up with 13amp plug sockets along with USB and USB-C sockets, interior LED strip and reading lights and leisure battery with split-charger relay and voltage monitor.
Original steel wheels have been fully renovated and power coated and fitted with new tyres and stainless VW hubcaps.
Gravitex painting within the wheel arches and Waxoil underneath.

The van is fitted with Thatcham Thatcham-approved Hornet Maxx1 alarm and SmarTrack tracker.
It was insured with an agreed valuation of £49,000, which was supported by a thorough valuation carried out by John Glynn of Classic Car Expert Valuations in September 2023.
