This Westfalia Continental camper – right-hand drive, four-berth, a rare and desirable model with the sought-after forward-hinged pop-top roof, original birch headlining, period interior with gas hob, sink, and table, ready to be enjoyed.
The van was originally sourced in Australia and brought to the UK in 2009 before undergoing a thorough engine rebuild in 2012 by air-cooled specialist Arnie Levics in Somerset. The work included new main bearings, seals, cylinder heads, heat exchangers, thermostat, cable and crank ground, ensuring reliability and originality. Since then, it’s covered just 8,000 miles, mostly touring in Northern France.
Mechanically, the bus runs well and has been maintained to a high standard throughout its life. A recent MOT, new battery, and Cobra alarm with immobiliser (deactivated via key-fob widget) make it ready to go. The bodywork is solid and rust-free, resprayed in timeless Sealing Wax Red, which although typically a Split Screen colour, looks stunning on this van. Always been stored indoors and clearly cherished.
The interior remains true to its Westfalia roots, with original fittings and quality German vinyl. A Kenwood stereo package, Vitrifrigo compressor fridge, and upgraded leisure battery system with split charge have been fitted, along with re-upholstered seating and mains hook-up. Rear seat belts are a nice upgrade, and the seats fold down to make a full-size Rock 'n' Roll bed. There's also the additional double bed in the pop-top, making it a four-berth, perfect for family adventures.
Practical details like the rare side ambulance step, roof rack, and high-quality canvas with mosquito netting and zipped windows make this a truly usable and characterful classic. It’s an ideal choice for those seeking a vintage camper with authenticity, charm, and reliability.
