1967 Volkswagen SO42 Westfalia Camper – Original, Award-Winning Example

We are proud to offer this March 1967 SO42 Westfalia camper – a rare and highly original left-hand drive example. Originally delivered to New York in Velvet Green, the vehicle later made its way to California before being imported into the UK.

This import underwent a comprehensive restoration in 1997 by the renowned Karmann Konnection and has since been carefully maintained, remaining dry stored and never driven in wet conditions. It presents today in outstanding condition throughout.

Finished in the iconic Alpine White over Sealing Wax Red colour scheme, this walk-through model retains all of its original Westfalia SO42 features, making it an increasingly rare find. Subtle upgrades include a slight lowering for improved road handling and the addition of front disc brakes, while power comes from a reliable and standard 1600cc twin port engine.

The interior is a true highlight, showcasing original Westfalia cabinetry throughout, including the wardrobe with mirror, fridge and sink unit, and the sought-after ¾ rock and roll bed. The rare jump seat is present, along with the desirable “spice rack” cabinet on the cargo door. All soft furnishings are finished in the correct mustard-coloured Westfalia vinyl, maintaining an authentic 60s feel.

Further period features include fully restored louvre windows with intact insect screens, rare clam shell wall lights, and an original child’s bunk. The desirable turret top roof allows full standing room in the rear, enhancing practicality without compromising originality. The cab benefits from new seat covers and seat belts, along with a period-correct radio.

Externally, the vehicle sits on standard steel wheels with period whitewall tyres and is complemented by an original 3-bow Westfalia roof rack with ladder. Additional features include an Empi side step, stainless steel exhaust, US-spec towel rail bumpers, rear window jail bars, and a colour-coded front bra.

This is a multiple award-winning example —perfect for the enthusiast seeking originality, provenance, and long-term investment potential.

A truly outstanding and increasingly collectible classic Volkswagen camper.
