‘Classic looks meet modern comfort in a beautifully restored camper'
If you’re looking for those beautiful classic Volkswagen looks, but with modern amenities to complement them, then “Monty” might just be the bus for you. Originally a 1970 Westfalia Campmobile, Monty spent his first 42 years in America before being imported into the UK in 2012.
On arrival, he was looking a little tired, so his owners, Jo & Russ, decided to restore him to his former glory – but with an emphasis on comfort and usability. They commissioned Vanwurks to install one of their sought-after Deluxe interiors. The result is a stunning fit-out that blends period-correct charm with modern convenience.
Inside, you’ll find a modern fridge, glass-topped sink, and twin hob, all subtly integrated into Vanwurks’ signature curved silver cupboard with internal shelving, alongside further cupboards and a rear wardrobe. A twin-seat rock’n’roll bed offers sleeping space, with a table that locks into the floor and stows neatly in the overhead locker when not in use.
The upholstery is finished throughout in caramel faux leather, paired with coordinating curtains for a warm, cohesive feel. The cab seats have been replaced with Porsche Boxster seats, giving adjustable reach and rake, and the passenger seat rotates 180° to create an extra lounge seat when camping.
Additional interior touches include a Retro Sounds stereo, a bamboo parcel shelf in the cab, and leather dashboard trim matching the seats.
Monty is powered by a 1600cc twin-port engine and runs and drives beautifully – (76337 miles unverified) just as you’d want for long road trips and weekends away.
