For sale – 1971 Porsche 914 2.0
A superb Italian-spec Porsche 914, originally delivered as a 1.7 and later upgraded to a strong-running, reliable 2.0-litre engine with twin Weber 40 carburettors. This example shows just 53,598 km (non-verified) and presents beautifully throughout — an honest, solid car that’s been well cared for and tastefully improved. This 914 is a '71 model that was put on a '74/75 plate when it was imported and registered in the UK in '74.
Finished in a classic period colour with very good paintwork and a clean, largely original interior, it’s benefited from a number of sensible upgrades including a RennShift short-throw shifter and a Vintage Speed stainless-steel exhaust. The 2.0 engine pulls smoothly, and combined with its low weight and mid-engine balance, this 914 delivers that distinctive Porsche handling feel in a genuinely engaging drive.
Mechanically, it’s had significant work completed where it counts: the infamous “hell hole” area (the notorious corrosion area beneath the battery tray, on the right-hand side of the engine bay) has been properly repaired, and the rear suspension and brakes were recently rebuilt. The outer sills have been replaced with new covers, and the car sits on SSP “Baby Fuchs” style alloys — the perfect finishing touch for this classic targa.
An older quality restoration, still presenting well, and ready for regular use or weekend fun. Solid, sorted, and very usable — exactly the kind of 914 that’s hard to find today.
