1979 Westfalia Camper – A True South of France Survivor.
This rare, Paris-owned Westfalia campervan is as full of character as it is originality. Delivered new to the South of France and owned for 29 years by a dedicated fisherman, it was used for epic 1,000-mile trips, 29 of them in total and true to form, clocking up just 29,000 miles during that time. When imported to the UK, it found a home with a French car specialist in Kent, still wearing its original green paint and with many unique, well-preserved features that set it apart from the rest.
The van retains its original green plaid interior—including headrests—and the Westfalia pop-top canvas remains in stunning condition. It’s a genuine 4-berth with a rock and roll bed below and a double up top. Inside, you’ll find the original Westfalia sink, cooker, gas fridge, and even a matching buddy seat stool. With its original dark green carpeting, period Radiola radio, and meticulous attention to detail throughout (like the fishing gear box underneath and full set of wrap-around curtains), this van is a time capsule and a standout example of the model. The twin-carb engine runs beautifully, and all servicing stickers remain in place in the engine bay—a rare and delightful touch.
A fantastic opportunity to own an authentic, desirable Westfalia that’s lived a rich life and still has many more miles to give.
