Before moving to the UK in approximately 2007/8 this absolutely gorgeous SO42 was living the life in California. It was very solid, straight and clean and had little to no sign of rust upon purchase. The current owner has done approximately only 1000 miles during ownership. The mileometer does not currently work so display mileage is not the verified mileage.
In 2008 and 2009 she went through some light restoration to some of the upholstery on the pop top canvas. Whilst in the states the owner picked up a kennedy 1700 clutch and serpentine pulley. In 2011 it had a dual master cylinder and CSP brake discs fitted.
In 2013 the van went into the care and maintenance of “VW Jim”. Jim fitted a Bears 113 Gearbox. The Bears Motorsport Gearbox is a high-performance, precision-engineered transmission system.
Jim also fitted many other upgrades.
- Busbox IRS (refurbished, blasted and coated A arms) with adjustable spring plates
- IRS inner and outer bearings, seals and stub axels
- New IRS drive shafts, gearbox mountings, couplings, clutch release bearings etc.
- Bears 113 reconditioned gearbox with cruise cog

If you’re not already sold, let us take a look at some of her other wonderful qualities less so hidden!
Already sitting in the showroom we have had visitors welcomed by this very charming and smart looking split screen. Sitting in the sunshine with the door open we have people squishing their face against the fence to get an even closer look.
The paint is wonderfully tidy and gleaming. There are a few signs of a westy well lived documented in photos for you to view. If you wish for more photos or a walkround video we can supply these for you.
Signs of its external modifications with the solar panels are well hidden to maintain her classic look. The solar panels sit on top of the Slimline rear roof rack. The cables run down the drivers side and into the rear vent. Following the van down you will notice the alloy side bar steps and white wall van tyres. All of the louvre windows open and function, as do all the front windows in the cab.
Speaking of up front! She has polished alloy commercial wider mirror arms and new mirrors. She has polished billet wipers. Just a bit lower are the front spot lights!
In the cab she has a gorgeous wood rim and polished alloy steering wheel (I’m a fan!) and all the dash knobs, door handles and grab handles are made from Billet Aluminium. If it is listed on MCJ products. It has it!
With a new ignition barrel and key and a high quality Optima Red starter battery you will be up and running and off on your adventures nice and smoothly. Pop your tunes on the RetroSound DAB/Bluetooth hi-fi with Blaupunkt speakers and aerials and listen to the beats through the RetroSound Subwoofer.
Once arrived at your chosen location you can rest easy in the Rock ‘n’ Roll bed (including cushions and duvalay sectional mattress), pop yourself a cool one from the cooler/sink removable unit and enjoy!
Included in the photos are the different transport options for if you wish to remove the cooler/sink unit for more floor space in the rear or if you wish to leave it in the van for transport but not set up. There are multiple options available to suit your needs.
