First registered in the UK in 2004 but that is not the only journey it has been on!
After nearly 20 years of ownership, the current owner has decided it is now time to sell their much loved 1967 Double Door Dormobile Splitscreen.
With only 3 owners this bus (originally a Swedish LHD Double Door Micro-Bus) has had quite the makeover..!
Over the years, they converted it to RHD and added an original Golde Sunroof. All works were carried out by Dave Clarke (The Wizard) at Airwerx". Using all original German VW metal, as in, RHD chassis rails and pedal work. No after market parts here!
The attention to detail is absolutely something, they even converted the front seats to RHD too with the correct original fittings and seat runners and RHD dash!
The sunroof install has also had the all important Samba inner sky-light panels welded in as per original sunroof bus and to add strength. Making this bus absolutely 1 of 1 unique.
The paint is 80% original paint, as it left the factory so there are no hidden nasties, you see exactly what you are getting.
Converted from a Micro-Bus to a camper using 100% original Dormobile metal kitchen and Dormatic multi function seats, which fold flat to give a 6ft long double bed or 2 x single beds.
There are only about a handful of Volkswagen splitscreens known with FULL Dormobile interior.
The current owner took it to Le Mans in June 2023 and again this year for its last farewell celebrating Le Mans 100th anniversary from the UK so is confident in its ability to go far and wide.
Some extras added to the bus are, a propex heater, Servo, leisure battery with split charger. Cab door cards are NOS, yes, NOS.
All other salt ‘n’ pepper panels are 100% original and in excellent condition. Westfalia curtain rails were also fitted. Front salt ‘n’ pepper seat covers are TMI. Also fitted are Creative Engineering Safari windows, and… they DO NOT LEAK!
The sunroof is in excellent condition and was fitted new about 10years ago by Bromsgrove trimmers. All tyres are in excellent condition with colour matched steel rims. Also included is the Autocraft tow bar with removable swan neck.
All handles are original NOS and one key fits all, including the ignition. Included is the matching spare wheel but is fitted with a brand New Cross ply tyre.
The engine is a 1500 SP that was rebuilt, as a treat, 12 years ago and to date it has never had a single drip of oil come out of it.
The carburetor and starter motor are brand new.
