She’s a calendar girl, she’s a magazine front cover model… Daffy is here to shine (literally!).
Sitting out front of the workshop in her dazzling BMW “Liquid Yellow”, Daffy is really brightening up the yard. Picked up as a family camper in 2009 from “Bustypes” when it was originally a Matt Black and Grey colour. It had been 7 different colours in its lifetime by this stage! The purchasers in this particular stage of ownership knew they couldn’t (and shouldn’t) just roll another colour over the top so did it the proper way. “Midland Paint Works” carried out a full bare metal respray to ensure it was as perfect as possible and added a few of their own spins to the paintwork too!
It now sits as bright as a Daffodil with a 2.0 Litre Type 4 engine with an electronic ignition and brake servo. It has also been modified to sit slightly lower allowing for an improved ride and handling.
At this time she still had her original Westfalia interior but the owners of the time required more storage space and did not require the cooker, wardrobe, coolbox or sink. These were replaced to include more storage space for their many road trips and adventures!
For travels in all climates they had a “Propex Heatsource” kit fitted along with a 240V hook up and 12v sockets to keep entertainment systems running for the longer journeys.
She sports a rock ‘n’ roll bed and an up top bunk in the pop up to happily fit the whole family (of 4).
Up front it sports some seats from a Porsche that have been professionally reupholstered along with the rest of the van's interior. This is also where the “Westfalia” was embroidered into the headrests (A stunning touch if you ask us).
In 2016 she had no expense spared at “Absolute VW” who carried out a list of repairs and renewals. The highlights included, a new clutch kit and surrounding clutch accessories, new crankshaft oil seals, carb rebuild, a new vintage speed exhaust, a new vintage speed gearshifter, new accelerator and clutch cable, new speedometer and cable and a tidy up of wiring and fuel lines.
In May 2017 Daffy had her engine stripped down to the block and checked. She had some key parts replaced before being rebuilt and tuned along with some MOT advisory repairs.
Overall she has had some very caring and loving owners over the years. A true diva! Whatever she needed, she was gifted. This means overall she has been kept in very good nick and it shows.
It is MOT and Tax exempt as a Historic Vehicle. 41109 unverified miles on the clock.
