Meet Phylis! Phylis is a gorgeous German factory built 1973 Bay Window. Included in the paperwork for sale is the certificate from Stiftung AutoMuseum in Germany that details how it left the factory. This includes a 1.6L engine and the bodywork painted in L53 Orient blue with L90D Pastel White.
Leaving the factory on 13th February 1973 she was ready for Mr John Goldsmith to receive in Ramsgate, England. He even opted for the cut out optional Westfalia roof.
The current owner you can rest assured has looked after it very well. They have owned Phylis for 13 years and they are a very keen VW enthusiast!
The engine and gearbox have been rebuilt in their ownership to keep Phylis a happy lady. The gearbox was rebuilt at 86k miles (now has 7k miles under its belt) and the engine was rebuilt at 90k miles (and now has 3k miles under its belt). The engine also received all new seals in the summer of 2024.
In 2025 Phylis was treated to a lower repaint which included the engine bay, cab area, underfloor and inside of the shell by UK Sports Cars, a classic and sports car specialist in Canterbury. Whilst there they also sorted and fitted a new interior!
Phylis now is the proud owner of shadow oak flooring with chrome inlays (fancy gal!!) a detachable table, a rock ‘n’ roll full width bed, flip down buddy seat, double gas burner unit, fridge, black woodgrain worktops and joinery with Devon chrome edging, ambient RGBW colour changing LED lighting with remote control, curtain tracks all round to hang her black out lined curtains with popper tie backs and even the cushions to match!
If that was not enough for Phylis she also had 3 point harness seatbelts fitted up front!
Internally she is run off of a Leisure battery and a 240v hook-up.
She is absolutely ready to hit the roads and continue adventuring whilst you cruise along listening to the Bluetooth DAB radio.
Are you possibly the next person to spoil Phyllis? With 93140 unverified miles on the dash she is ready to view and test drive from our North Devon showroom.
Tax and MOT exempt and has had No MOT advisories in the last 3 tests.
