Prestige and class. That is what this Volvo is oooooozing.

It sits on nicely polished Chrome Volvo wheels in a regal Burgundy colour and is capturing the gaze of everyone it cruises by.

Volvo started to produce the 164 in 1968 and this gem was born in 1971. It was born to be the younger brother to the 144.  The principal difference was that the Volvo 164 had a 3.0-litre, in-line, 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet.

This was the first occasion for 10 years that Volvo was able to offer a 6-cylinder car. The last time had been when the taxis in the 800 Series were built.

The front of the 164 had its own styling. The bonnet was longer to make room for the larger engine. The shape of the front also radiated greater prestige as a result of the large, relatively high grille.

This model we have for sale has the M410 4-speed manual overdrive transmission.

Only 146,008 were produced and in the last year of production in 1975 all models were shipped to the USA.

The previous owners of this gorgeous vehicle used it as a family car for 21 years and always garaged and took care of it like a member of the family.

The interior could do with some TLC with the seats having slight rips in the upholstery that could have only come from many years of use and joy.

Speaking of the seats..! I can see why it was a family car, they would rock anyone from a newborn to a fully grown adult to sleep. Oh my, are they comfy! A living room on wheels one passer by called it and I can’t disagree! They are a seriously soft and comfy way to cruise around town.

It has been looked after by a local classic specialist who tells us it has had some of the following TLC recently:

New Battery,

5 new tyres,

Electronic ignition,

Water pump and drivebelts,

Trailing arm bushes,

All fluids changed,

NS window edge rubbers.

MOT until 2nd August 2027 123518 unverified miles on the dash
