66 VW Split Screen Microbus – “Oscar”
'Award-winning, wedding-ready classic with 1776cc performance engine and rich history'
 

Meet Oscar – a beautifully presented 1966 right-hand drive, seven-seat, split-screen Microbus finished in striking Metallic Raven Blue and white. With an incredible backstory, this much-loved bus has been in long-term ownership since 2005 and has spent nearly two decades as one of Wales’ leading wedding vehicles, earning awards, TV appearances, and countless smiles along the way. Having completed its final wedding season in September 2025, Oscar is now ready for a new chapter.
 

Mechanically, it’s a superb example of a well-sorted split screen. A 1776cc engine with twin 40 carburettors, Porsche fan and carbon-fibre shroud, and a full engine refurbishment completed in 2023 delivers smooth, reliable power. The engine is paired with a 'Turbo Thomas' stainless steel exhaust and parts supplied by Creative Engineering, such as rack and pinion steering and IRS system. Stopping power is excellent, with disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear.

Exterior-wise, polished Safari windows and X6 pop-out side windows courtesy of Creative Engineering enhance the aesthetic, and a polished deluxe belt line and sill trim, as well as a Westy-style 3-bow roof rack, complete the look.
 

Inside, Oscar features a walk-through interior – a desirable feature that makes it more spacious and practical – and a Paris sunroof for a classic open-air feel. It also includes a starter button and retains its original birth certificate, confirming its provenance. Upholstery has been beautifully finished in cream vinyl throughout, and the cab area also contains the original radio, as well as an Empi quick shift upgrade.
 

Used extensively for weddings since 2007, following a comprehensive restoration costing in the region of £60,000, Oscar quickly became one of the most recognisable and popular VW wedding buses in Wales. It even featured in a television advert alongside rugby star Eddy Butler. Despite its working life, it’s been cherished and maintained to a high standard, and the result is a classic VW that’s ready to enjoy, show, or continue as part of a business.
