A really nice starting point for anyone looking to build their own 21 Window Samba and put their own stamp on it.

The owner has had the bus for a long time and a considerable amount of work has already gone into it, with much of the work carried out by Irvs Resto, a very well-known name in the VW scene. There's been no shortage of thought or quality in what's been done so far.

It comes with a full Creative IRS setup, including driveshafts, drums and Beetle gearbox, along with a nosecone for the IRS box. The weld-on parts should also have come back with the bus when it was at yours. The wheels have been powder coated and there's a new wiring loom already fitted, with provision for a future Subaru conversion.

The 1600 engine has been rebuilt and features electronic ignition, new bearings, an Engle 130 cam, new heads, barrels and pistons, new fan housing, twin Webers and a deep sump, along with an external oil cooler.

The sunroof mechanism and rails are present, the fuel tank has been reconditioned with all new associated parts, and there's a steering box from a dry, low-mileage US bus. There's also a new steering wheel, turn signals, wipers and a servo setup.

In reality, there's a lot here already. Apart from an interior and a set of tyres, most of the major pieces are in place.

The beauty of this one is that it's a genuine project opportunity. A 21 Window Samba shell with plenty of the groundwork already done, ready for someone to take it on, choose their own interior and finishing touches, and build it into the bus they've always wanted.

A great base for a proper Samba project, without having to start from scratch.
